U.S. Confirms Support for Pakistan in Pak-Afghan Conflict

Washington (Monitoring Desk) — The U.S. Department of State has announced that the United States fully supports Pakistan against Afghan Taliban attacks and recognizes Pakistan’s right to defend its territory and citizens.

The U.S. Deputy Secretary of State contacted Pakistani Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch and expressed regret over the recent loss of life in the dispute between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban. He stated that the U.S. is closely monitoring the situation and observing measures being taken to ensure regional peace.

Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump had told the media that Pakistan is handling its relationship with Afghanistan well and that the U.S. would not intervene. President Trump praised Pakistan’s leadership, describing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as exemplary leaders and expressing deep respect for them.

According to the U.S. stance, Pakistan’s efforts and defensive measures are legitimate and necessary in the context of Afghan Taliban attacks, and the United States will continue to support this position.
