Turkey rejects allegations of violating Greek airspace and harassing aircraft

Ankara (Turkey News Desk): Turkey’s Directorate of Communications has strongly rejected claims that Turkish military aircraft harassed the plane of Greek Defence Minister Nikos Dendias or European officials, or that they violated Greek airspace.

In a statement, the Disinformation Center (DMM) said that certain media reports and social media posts circulating on the issue are completely baseless.

According to the statement, four out of six aircraft flying on a route between Greece and the Greek Cypriot administration allegedly violated the airspace of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

It added that in response, two Turkish F-16 jets stationed in Northern Cyprus were scrambled as a precaution, but no aircraft was harassed.

Turkish authorities clarified that all flights were conducted within the airspace of Northern Cyprus and that there was no violation of Greek airspace.

The statement also noted that flights conducted on June 6 during the Turkish Air Force anniversary and Youth and Aviation Festival were within designated air corridors and had no connection with Greek airspace.

Authorities urged the public not to believe reports aimed at influencing international opinion and creating tensions.
