Islamabad (Turkey News) President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have urged the business community and industrialists to ensure the dignity and protection of workers on the occasion of Labour Day.
In his message, President Asif Ali Zardari said that a nation that protects its workers secures its future, adding that empowering labourers is the foundation of sustainable national development.
He stated that Pakistan is committed to promoting international labour standards, including fair wages, social protection, elimination of forced labour and child labour, and ending discrimination.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to workers both at home and abroad, saying that the labour force plays a key role in keeping the country’s economy active.
He said that overseas Pakistani workers are a shining reflection of the nation’s capability and hard work, contributing to the economy through valuable foreign exchange.
The Prime Minister added that the government is taking special measures to promote skills and professional capabilities in order to provide more opportunities to the working class.
