Kabul (Monitoring Desk): Human rights organizations, members of the European Parliament, and Afghan citizens have strongly opposed the possible visit of a Taliban delegation to Brussels.
According to a report by Afghan magazine Afghanistan International, protesters said that the situation for women and girls in Afghanistan has become extremely alarming over the past five years.
The protesters maintained that Taliban policies have placed women’s and girls’ rights, safety, and future at serious risk, and therefore inviting them to European institutions would be an insult to the victims.
They argued that instead of giving the Taliban delegation access to the European Parliament, they should be brought before international courts for justice.
The report also stated that more than 82 international human rights organizations, along with several European lawmakers, have expressed concern over the proposed visit to Brussels.
According to experts, the situation on the ground in Afghanistan is changing rapidly, and public discontent against the Taliban administration is increasing.
