Istanbul (Türkiye News) The European Parliament’s rapporteur for Türkiye, Nacho Sánchez Amor, has strongly reacted to a recent statement by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, calling it geopolitically incorrect.
In a post on the social media platform X, he said that the European Commission President, in her recent speech, grouped Türkiye together with Russia and China as countries influencing Europe, which he described as an unbalanced and inaccurate assessment.
According to Nacho Sánchez Amor, this stance does not align with the growing cooperation between the European Union and Türkiye in the fields of security and defense.
It is worth noting that speaking at an event in Hamburg, Germany, the European Commission President had said that Europe should be strengthened in a way that protects it from the influence of Russia, Türkiye, or China.
